Doctor My Eyes. Stay. Here Comes Those Tears Again. The Pretender. The Load Out. Rosie. Lives in the Balance. Redneck Friend. Shape of a Heart. For Everyman.

Look at the soundtrack of your life: chances are there will be a Jackson Browne song hanging around backstage. He has written and performed some of the most literate and moving songs in popular music.

Since his humble coffee-house beginning, he has recorded 15 albums spanning the last 40-some years and in 2004 was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Last year his version of John Lennon’s “Oh My Love,” was on the 2007 compilation Instant Karma (The Amnesty International Campaign To Save Darfur), received the Harry Chapin Humanitarian Award and was also inducted into the Songwriter’s Hall of Fame.

This year promises a new studio album from Browne and a Fox Theater show in April; but thanks to the Tucson Kitchen Musicians Association, you don't have to wait to hear some of his remarkable songs.

The JacksonBrowneFest is a TKMA fundraiser featuring many of Tucson's finest musicians paying tribute to Browne by performing their versions of his timeless music. Proceeds from the benefit will work to keep the annual Tucson Folk Festival free to the public. The "JBFest" will be held at the Boondocks Lounge, 3306 N 1st Avenue, on Sunday, February 24, beginning at 5:00 p.m. Children are welcome and dinner is available.

"Jackson Browne has been an inspiration for two generations of music lovers; I thought it would be great to hear versions of his songs by local talent. And it is very important to us at TKMA to keep the Folk Festival free for the 10,000 people attending each year. This is a win-win for everybody: musicians, audience and the community at large", remarked Tom Woolley, principal organizer of the JBFest and founding member of local group The Wayback Machine.

TKMA suggests a $10.00 donation at the door; any larger amount is appreciated and no one will be turned away for lack of funds. For more information call the Boondocks Lounge at 520-690-0991.
